This rpg is essentially exactly that. A group of soldiers augmented far above the scale of normal human to fight a war. After the war society then has to deal with these super soldier veterans (with all the post-war stress and psychosis common in veterans of brutal wars). Basically in my opinion how joe average see's a "super trooper" depends on the situation that created the trooper. Was it the need of a brutal war - with super troopers suddenly mass produced as a new super weapon? Was it a long program of social and genetic engineering/eugenics to create a line of superior warriors trained and conditioned to protect the average joes from the terrible secrets of space? How many super troopers are there? One (Captain America), Ten (Super Soldier), 100, 1000, 1 Million, more? Do the super troopers has social responsibilities they are held to (some sort of Neo-feudalism). How long has joe average had to become accustomed to the idea? In the Battletech Universe the Elementals are seen by the Clans as heroic paragons of the Clan's might, to be deferred to as members of the ruling caste. The Inner Sphere regards them more like freakish boogiemen from a twisted and violent society. Around 3065 the Ghost Bears, the Nova Cats, and the Wolves in Exile all have the added complication of attempting to live in Inner Sphere territory with Inner Sphere society.
