Hi all:

Another question as I continue to hammer out my GURPS Star Trek Starship
Builder (4e)-- which has also acquired a "More Generic Starship Builder" (which
does not mean universal) component...

4e Space, as well as Interstellar Wars has done away with Hull Stress Rating
from 3e Space. Which dovetails into Gravity Compensators-- which are not
relevent for the Interstellar Wars campaign, as 6G acceleration seems largely
the maximum, and artificial gravity is basically assumed.

In RL, I know fighter pilots and astronauts tolerate 7-9Gs with pressure suits,
and so clearly our technology enables us to build vehicles that tolerate 9+
Gs-- i.e. the person inside is more delicate.

Any sense what a well-made starship can tolerate G-force wise, before
crumpling? Any quick and dirty ways to calculate/approximate this? Would
submarines be a reasonable way to address this, or is the problem of
compression too distinct from shear from G-forces?

Any GMs run into this problem when running campaigns? What parameters were
used to resolve G-force issues?
