This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. My site is down for rebuilding, but sooner or
later the old stuff should reappear at http://omeyer.gmxhome.de

Garal N.Th. Alpha-7 Speedboat v1.0 (GURPS Traveller TL7)
  Copyright 2007 by Onno Meyer

The Alpha-7 Speedboat has been designed for frontier worlds. Hydrogen
for the fuel cell is available at most starports, and the solar-powered
electrolysis system refills the tanks slowly if the boat is moored. The
speedboat has an open cockpit with four seats, an enclosed hold for 0.6
displacement tons of cargo and two bunks in the bow.
The fuel cell burns 37.5 gallons of hydrogen per hour at top speed. A
full load of fuel and provisions is $300.

Subassemblies: Body +5.
Powertrain: 250-kW ducted propeller; 250-kW fuel cell; 800-kWs advanced
  battery.

Design Notes
Body is 1,500 cf with mediocre lines. Structure is extra-light and
standard. Armor is standard composite. Waterproofed. Fuel tanks are
light. Mechanical controls. 342.52 cf of empty space. Empty weight is
8,000 lbs.
The vehicle uses the design rules from GURPS Vehicles [2nd edition,
3rd printing, Dec 2004 errata], VXii (the armor volume rule) and the
text format from Vehicles Lite. The Traveller background affects the
design decisions, not the technology.

Next Week: A truly amphibious ATV.
