Let's not confuse things...female mosquitoes DO eat blood, in the sense that they need to metabolize a source of protein for egg production. But the blood doesn't just "lie there" and gets stuffed inside eggs. It gets metabolized, and the metabolic products used to make eggs.
Even if the magically conjured mosquitoes are exactly like natural ones, please recall that they don't immediately metabolize the blood. If they can keep blood viable within their bodies long enough to serve as a vector for malaria, it's within the realm of possibility for them to keep the blood in a useful state long enough to fly from the victim over to the adjacent cauldron.
