This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. My site is down for rebuilding, but sooner or
later the old stuff should reappear at omeyer.gmxhome.de

Anachronistic Fighter v1.0 (TL6)
  Copyright 2007 by Onno Meyer

In some alternate history stories, one side finds efficient uses for
historical technologies. In other novels, genuine time travelers bring
modern concepts with them. This fighter combines an optimized airframe
with conventional technology to rival the early jets.
The fighter is armed with four 25mm guns and two hardpoints for drop
tanks or bombs. A sturdy construction with sealed tanks and seat armor
allows it to absorb several bursts from typical 1940s MGs. The fighter
has a top speed of 500 mph, high agility, and a combat radius of about
300 miles. At a more sedate speed, it has a ferry range of over 2,400
miles. If there is a weakness, it is the low acceleration and rate of
climb. In a game, the fighter could be the first sign for the players
that something strange is happening ...
At top speed, the engine burns 150 gallons of aviation gas per hour.
A full load of fuel and ammunition is $1,880.

Subassemblies: Body +3, two STOL Wings +1, three retractable Wheels +0.
Powertrain: 1,000-kW aerial propeller; 1,000-kW aerial turbocharged HP

The vehicle uses the design rules from GURPS Vehicles [2nd edition,
3rd printing, Dec 2004 errata], WWII (only the aerial engine and cruise
speed/fuel consumption rules, not the entire modular system), VXii (the
armor volume, stall speed and ceiling rules), and the text format from
Vehicles Lite.

Next Week: Probably a bomber.
