As an example, look at the Iconic characters in the back of the Characters book.
pp.307-309 deal with a robot using 2 alternate forms. They bought all the things common to both forms once. Then they separated out only those differences between the two forms to go into the templates. They bought the more expense template outright and paid the 15 for the alternate/cheaper template. For example, ST+18 appears in both templates, but only because both forms have different modifiers (one has no fine manipulators). Same thing with DX+3. -- Chris J.
