I have been kicking around a campaign setting for a while now and figured
I'd look for some feedback and ideas on it here.

I am wanting to do a future setting where man has began to colonize the
near-by stars. FTL travel exists using a stutter-jump drive system that
causes a small bubble of real space to make a series of hops across the
fabric of the universe. Interstellar travel times will be months long,
but fairly recent so the bubble of human influence is still only 20 or 30
light years, with colonies only in the first 12 or 15 LYs. The timeline
should follow close enough to actual events to still have a comfy familiar
feel but still be somewhat different. The feel for it will be kind of a
battlesuit/infantry mercenary/shadowruner kind of game where various
nations and companies hire small deniable resources for dangerous
activities in places far from the eyes of established law.

All of this is fairly typical sci-fi setting stuff pretty much - but the
rub is the next part. Inspired by the old greek and roman myths I thought
it would be cool to have the dominant religions be polytheistic. These
powers would be revered and worshiped and they would grant boons -
significant enough and frequent enough to be readily provable. However
these powers don't express their wills and desires in as clear and obvious
a manner - meaning different nations and regions will each have their own
set of names and roles for the same powers. Each religion will have its
own creation stories and religious leaders all calling each other heretic
and fighting over semantics.

So what kinds of pantheons would we see created by man risen up through
the ages all to way to the age of stars?

Thanks,

Clint
