I and a co-GM are going to be running a first campaign for a set of three 10-12
year old girls. None of the girls have played RPGs before, but all are very
bright and imaginative.

After talking to the girls, it quickly became apparent that the setting was
going to be an offshoot of the Percy Jackson & The Olympians (PJ&O) set of
novels. Everyone has read at least the first book and seen the movie, most have
read more of the books than I.

Given the mixture of magic and modern, both of us quickly agreed that GURPS was
likely the best system for this. It doesn't hurt that both of us have a large
collection of GURPS books, mostly 3rd edition.

I am somewhat concerned that the standard GURPS Magic doesn't really fit in the
campaign. All of the girls want some magic, but I'm not sure if any would be
interested in the prerequisite track and rather formal style of the standard
GURPS Magic.

We plan to expand out the PJ&O setting to go beyond just the 'western
civilization' to include other mythos. It is rather early in the development
stages for this, so far all we have agreed to do is classify beings as immortal
or elemental. We are using elemental in the way that the PJ&O books us it, a
force of nature that can die but will just reform. Most monsters are elemental,
including Medusa. This will allow us to have plenty of creatures from other
backgrounds such as leprechauns, bakemono, ancestral spirits, etc.

Thanks in advance for any helpful advice or resources you share relating to
this._______________________________________________
