Starship Scientific Robot Mk.VIII v1.0 (TL15)

  The Science Robot assists the crew of an interstellar or intergalactic 
starship with shipboard research and field work. The neural net computer 
is capable of adaptive learning, but original science still requires the 
work of sentient crew -- the robot is merely a good lab assistant. 
  The Mk.VIII is shaped like an upright egg, with four flexible arms at 
90° intervals around the body. Two arms have micromanipulators, and all 
four have hyperspectral EM imagers. Additional sensors are mounted in a 
ring around the upper pole. The force screen can form a manipulator 
field, capable of holding or lifting 0.4 tons at 1 G. 
  Many structural and motive components are interchangeable with other 
models of the Mk.VIII series.
  The reserve power cell lasts for 144 minutes at full thrust.

Subassemblies: Body +0, four Arms -2. 
Powertrain: Four 250-lb. vectored super reactionless thrusters; two 
  10,000-lb. contragrav generators; 500-kW total conversion reactor; 
  810,000-kWs rechargeable power cell.

Design Notes
  Body is 9.6 cf. Arms are 0.6 cf each. Structure is extra-heavy, 
standard, robotic. Armor is standard metal. Self-sealing. 2.82 cf of 
empty space. Empty weight is 1,000 lbs. 
  The vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [second edition, third 
printing, December '09 errata], Robots and VXii (including the armor 
volume rule) with the text format from Vehicles Lite.
