Starship Security Robot Mk.VIII v1.0 (TL15)

  The Security Robot fills shipboard police functions on interstellar or 
intergalactic starships. The robot is not very flexible when it comes to 
new situations, so supervision by sentient crewmembers is advisable, but 
it excels at tedious guard duty.
  The Mk.VIII is shaped like an upright egg, with four manipulator arms 
at 90° intervals around the body. Each arm mounts a different weapon as 
well -- a paralysis gun, a gamma-ray laser, a disintegrator and as last 
resort a fusion gun. The force screen can be tuned to reduce the sensor 
signature of the robot, or flash with police markings. 
  Many structural and motive components are interchangeable with other 
models of the Mk.VIII series.
  It takes 163 seconds to recharge one fusion shot.

Subassemblies: Body +0, four Arms -2. 
Powertrain: Four 250-lb. vectored super reactionless thrusters; two
  10,000-lb. contragrav generators; 500-kW total conversion reactor; 
  4,050,000-kWs rechargeable power cell.

printing, December '09 errata], VXi and VXii (including the armor volume
