This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on a website or the like. The files at omeyer.gmxhome.de are down until I fix the automatic PDF generation, which should be one of these days - see sourceforge.net/projects/gurpsml Onno Meyer, 2011-04-04
Surface Crawler Mk.VIII v1.0 (TL15) Copyright 2011 by Onno Meyer The Surface Crawler is carried by interstellar or intergalactic ships to explore hostile planets. It is rated for well over 1,000 atmospheres pressure, and it can probably survive twice that much before the force screens collapse. The Crawler has a boxy hull on two tracks, but the force screens can provide streamlining for air and water travel. The outer screen can be used as a bulldozer to clear a path, and the disintegrator can handle more difficult obstacles. The forward cabin has ten workstations, and the rear cabin has five bunks and the automed. The connecting corridor is lined by equipment lockers, the airlock, cramped sanitary facilities, and a galley unit. It takes 37 seconds to recharge one disintegrator shot. Subassemblies: Body +6, two Tracks +5, full-traverse pop Turret +2. Powertrain: 9,600-kW tracked drivetrain; two 800,000-lb. vectored mega reactionless thrusters; four 1,600,000-lb. contragrav generators; 10,000-kW fusion reactor; 100,000-kW total conversion power plant; 121,500,000-kWs rechargeable power cell.
