This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. The files at omeyer.gmxhome.de are down until
I fix the automatic PDF generation, which should be one of these
days - see sourceforge.net/projects/gurpsml

Super Ironclad v1.0 (TL5)
Copyright 2013 by Onno Meyer
In the 1860s and 1870s, naval architects could not combine sufficient
armament, armor, engines, and coal in any reasonable hull. Historically,
they did not take the obvious solution -- a larger ship -- until much
later.
The Super Ironclad combines a broadside battery of 68-lbr. shell guns,
a center battery with 10" rifled muzzle loaders, and two turrets with a
pair of 12" RML each. She has twin screws powered by trunk engines, and
a dozen temperamental water tube boilers. Her mast has no sails, just a
fighting top.
Normally, the ship has 2,000 officers and crew, but if necessary she
can carry several army regiments for a few days or weeks. She has one
steam launch, two pinnaces, and four cutters.
The steam engines burn 67.5 tons of coal per hour. A full load of
ammo, fuel, and provisions is $1,275,200.
Subassemblies: Body +11, Superstructure +8, two full-rotation Open
Mounts +4, Open Mount +2, Mast +2, two full-rotation Turrets +6.
Powertrain: Two 21,600-kW screw propellers; two 21,600-kW forced draft
steam engines; 1,800-kW forced draft steam engine.

Occ: 10 bridge NCS, 48 NCS, 468 RSR, 5 XCSR, 1,950 hammocks, 48 cabins,
2 luxury cabins.
