Basically, I would agree with you on this point.

On the other side, we first have to define what a threat to a particular alien
race could be. The fact that they are able for interstellar or even
intergalactic travel does not necessarily mean that they are immune against
high amounts of kinetic energy focussed on a small surface (aka. a bullet fired
from a rifle) - and here we even have to specify "high amount".

For sure, there is some logic behind the assumption that a race of alien
invaders is technologically advanced, in all areas including combat/military.
But things like "force fields" or "disintegrator beams" are just constructs of
human imagination, bare of any proved physical foundation (not to talk about
"anti-gravity" and alike). So in my opinion, the aliens will not have them,
too. But I also have to confess that they could have something else even our
most imaginative SF authors have not thought about yet …

Same SF authors have provided us with so many invasion scenarios that all could
be possible (at least in their beginnings) that "threat to the aliens" could
mean nearly anything.

But we should also define the threat those alien invaders are for us. If they
just want to clear out the path for a new intergalactic highway, we would not
have even the slightest chance: puff, and history ends.

If they just want to have a new parking space in the biozone of a yellow sun,
or new mines, or farm ground for their space cows, our chances are a bit better
(especially in the last case). But we know already from our own experiments,
that humanity could be extinguished quite easily with a simple virus.

Only in the last meta-scenario, the question arises how we could provide a
threat to the invaders: if they are intending to dominate the humans.
