And we understand zero gravity a lot better than we understand low gravity or 
spin gravity. Our experience with low gravity is pretty much the Apollo 
missions, spin gravity was simulated on Earth but hardly in a way equivalent to 
a space station or for a comparable duration. The whole minimum size estimate 
is just from old NASA experiments that suggest 3 RPM (radius = 100 meters per 
G) as being something many people can adapt to and 1 RPM (radius = 900 meters 
per G) being something almost everyone can adapt to.
