This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. The files at omeyer.gmxhome.de are down until
I fix the automatic PDF generation, which should be one of these
days - see sourceforge.net/projects/gurpsml

Deep Space Base v1.0 (TL9)
  Copyright 2013 by Onno Meyer

This station was designed for a setting where interplanetary travel is
starting to become routine. It could be constructed with metals from the
asteroids and manufactured parts from Earth, perhaps at the Trojans or
in the belt.
The Deep Space Base consists of a central hub and an outer wheel. The
hub contains the fusion power plants, station-keeping engines, reaction
mass tanks, antenna arrays, and two docks. The wheel holds the quarters,
working areas, warehouses, and hydroponics. The rotating wheel provides
one G at the lowest deck, where most of the people live.
The base is a small town in space. She has no heavy industry, but she
provides doctors and priests, teachers and lawyers, and living space at
full gravity. Freelance prospectors could rent a room here, and grumble
endlessly about the price of gravity. Corporate spacers must come here
to report to managers who would not survive a single shift in the real
world. And perhaps the government is sending a handful of cops to bring
order to this frontier town at last ...
The fusion rockets use 4,000 gallons of reaction mass per hour.

Design Notes
Body is 8,000,000 cf. Superstructure is 2,000,000 cf. Structure is
light, cheap. Armor is cheap metal. Sealed. Tanks are light.
Computerized controls. 2,009,940 cf of empty space in the Body, 220,526
cf in the Superstructure. Empty weight is 100,000,000 lbs.
The vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [second edition, third
printing, July 2010 errata], VXi, and VXii (including the armor volume
rule) with the text format from Vehicles Lite.

Next Week: A power sat.
