Modular Airship v1.0 (TL8) Copyright 2013 by Onno Meyer This blimp was designed for aerial surveys of alien worlds. It breaks down into small sections for transport in passenger shuttles or through narrow gates. The heaviest module is the deflated gasbag. The gondola has seats for a pilot, a navigator, and two passengers or relief crew. Survey instruments can be mounted in the cargo hold behind the seats. In the rear is a hydrogen tank, for the MHD turbine and to refill the gasbag. With time and sunlight, a solar electrolysis system can produce more liquid hydrogen. The turbine burns 60 gallons of hydrogen per hour. A full load is $100. Subassemblies: Body +4, Gasbag +8. Powertrain: Two 150-kW ducted fans; 59,200 cf hydrogen lifting gas; 300-kW standard MHD turbine; 3,000-kWs advanced battery. Fuel: 1,000 gallons hydrogen (fire on 13). Occ: 2 bridge RCS, 2 RS. Structure is extra-light, advanced, multi-section. Body armor is advanced metal, Gasbag armor is non-rigid. Sealed. 140.67 cf of empty space in the Body. Empty weight is 2,000 lbs. The vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [second edition, third printing, July 2010 errata], Vxi, and VXii (including the armor volume rule) with the text format from Vehicles Lite.
