My idea was that the TL8 battlesuits (one platoon per battalion) ride in their transport trucks most of the time, to reduce the wear and tear on the complicated drivetrains. They only deploy if the maneuver companies make contact or if the battalion commander suspects a trouble spot from intelligence predictions or recon data.
