This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. The files at omeyer.gmxhome.de are down until
I fix the automatic PDF generation, which should be one of these
days - see sourceforge.net/projects/gurpsml

Hyperdrive Trainer Mk.V v1.0 (TL12)
  Copyright 2014 by Onno Meyer

Even with the best simulations, there comes a time for pilot trainees
to get into a real starship. Experienced pilots need refresher training
to maintain their proficiency. Last but not least, many old Hyperdrive
Trainers end their career as station hacks on some starport.
The Hyperdrive Trainer has a sleek airframe and small delta wings. In
addition to aerodynamic control surfaces, the wings mount the secondary
sublight thrusters and the contragrav generators. The Mk.V has a tandem
cockpit for the trainee and the instructor. The rear seat is raised to
extra visibility, and both workstations have identical flight controls.
It takes 193 minutes to recharge the power cell at full thrust, or 93
minutes if coasting.

Subassemblies: Body +3, three retractable Wheels +0, two Wings +0.
Powertrain: 18,000-lb. super reactionless thruster; two 6,000-lb. super
reactionless thrusters; 45-ton hyperdrive; two 10,000-lb. contragrav
generators; 3,000-kW super MHD fusion reactor; 16,200,000-kWs
  rechargeable power cell.
Occ: 2 RCS. Cargo: 10 cf.

Design Notes
Body is 288 cf, with lifting body and very good streamlining. Wheels
are 14.4 cf, retract into Body. Wings are 6 cf each. Structure is
medium, expensive. Armor is expensive composite. Sealed. Computerized
controls with duplicate maneuver controls. 0.026 cf of empty space.
Empty weight is 5,400 lbs.
The vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [second edition, third
printing, July 2010 errata] and VXii (including the armor volume rule)
with the text format from Vehicles Lite.

Next Week: The next one, at TL13.
