This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. The files at omeyer.gmxhome.de are down until
I fix the automatic PDF generation, which should be one of these
days - see sourceforge.net/projects/gurpsml

Research Ship Mk.IV (Long Endurance Version) v1.0 (TL11)
  Copyright 2014 by Onno Meyer

The Research Ship carries a group of scientists to distant worlds. Her
crew and the laboratory can be tailored to the mission, from geophysical
surveys to xenoarchaeological digs.
The upper deck contains the crew quarters -- individual staterooms for
the captain, the first mate, and the senior scientist, double staterooms
for the others. The bridge is on the lower deck, where it has excellent
downward visibility for rough field landings. Behind the bridge are the
laboratory, a small conference room with holographic displays, the main
airlock, the EVA ready room with stowage lockers, and the engine room
in the back.
It takes 37 hours at full thrust or 265 minutes coasting to recharge
the power cell for one hyperspace entry.

Subassemblies: Body +7, four retractable Skids +4.
Powertrain: Four 250,000-lb. vectored super reactionless thrusters;
  2,500-ton hyperdrive; two 30,000-kW fusion reactors; 900,000,000-kWs
  rechargeable power cell.
Occ: 6 bridge RCS, 6 double-occupancy cabins, 3 double-occupancy luxury
  cabins, 3 single-occupancy luxury cabins.
Cargo: 820 cf.

Design Notes
Body is 30,000 cf, with lifting body and very good streamlining. Skids
are 1,500 cf, retract into Body. Structure is medium, standard. Armor is
expensive composite. Sealed. Computerized controls with duplicate
maneuver controls. 3,479.68 cf of empty space. Empty weight is 230,000
lbs.
The vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [second edition, third
printing, July 2010 errata], VXi, and VXii (including the armor volume
rule) with the text format from Vehicles Lite.

Next Week: A TL9 business jet.
