Kinda if you treat them like Electric Trains, in that the power comes
from a buried cable powering the grav units in the cars. Your engine
is less of a traction engine and more the 1st car that contains the
control room and other ancillary gear that every train needs but not
every car needs.

See here y'all hit one of the classic SF memes the Gravity boat/barge
where contragravity vehicles are boat analogs instead of Automotive
analogs. This one of my prefered memes.
