If you need specific dimensions on ships as recorded in history, I have a few that I can give to you for some English ships. Also, do a search on my name at the Forums where it comes to masts on age of sail ships. You'll find some entries on mast heights and how they were figured for various masts and even for various specific portions of the mast. This information is more historically accurate than was the information given in GURPS VEHICLES 2nd edition.
Some features of this week's ship are close to a historical 74 -- notably the armament on the gun decks. The old Vehicles doesn't do carronades well, so I pounced on the fact combined sail/steam ships could have finer lines than pure sailing ships to keep the forecastle armament to the nominal 9-pounders.
As far as game mechanics go, there are 150 tons of wooden structure and 1,125 tons of wooden armor. Obviously I'm counting the reinforced scantlings towards armor, not hull, where in reality they're both. According to the armor volume formula in the Expansion, the hull would be 22 inches thick.
I had some volume problems on the gun decks. When she clears for action, the hammocks are folded away and this creates the standing room to work her guns. Under the rules, I had to allocate both hammock space AND standing room. That's one reason why it is cramped standing room.
The coal lasts for 5 days at nominal fuel consumption. Clearly the sails are the main propulsion and the steam is auxiliary.
