SpinDevCorp Outreach-class Blimp v1.0 (GURPS Traveller TL6) Copyright 2015 by Onno Meyer The SDC Outreach was developed as a cheap transport for underdeveloped worlds in the Spinward Marches. The LTA craft is much slower than a grav vehicle, but she is easier to maintain under frontier conditions. The Outreach has a double-deck car slung below a 320' by 80' non-rigid gasbag. Four engines provide a top speed of 50 mph and a travel speed of 30 mph. The standard model has room for 80 short-haul passengers and 10 crew, but other configurations are available. The engines burn 160 gallons of aviation gas per hour. A full load of fuel is $1,600. Subassemblies: Body +7, four Pods +2, Gasbag +11. Powertrain: Four 800-kW aerial propellers; 1,480,000 cf hydrogen lifting gas; four 800-kW HP gas engines; 4,320-kWs lead-acid battery. Fuel: 4,000 gallons aviation gas (fire on 15). HPs: 1,875 Body, 38 each Pod, 800 Gasbag aSpeed: 50 aAccel: 2 aDecel: 0.5 aMR: 0.125 aSR: 4 Stall Speed 0. Design Notes Body is 19,800 cf, with good streamlining. Pods are 50 cf each. Gasbag is 1,480,000 cf. Structure is extra-light, expensive. Body and Pod armor is expensive metal, Gasbag armor is non-rigid. Light tanks. Mechanical controls. 11,700 cf of empty space in the Body and 1.2 cf in each Pod. Empty weight is 48,000 lbs. The vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [second edition, third printing, July 2010 errata], VXi, and VXii (including the armor volume rule) with the text format from Vehicles Lite. The Traveller rules affect the background and design choices, but not the technology of this vehicle.
