Peter,

A flash drive is the same thing as a thumb drive or jump drive.
They are sometimes called stick drives.
They are solid state memory units that are plugged into a USB port and show up on a computer as a removable drive and you can copy files to them for use with other computers or devices like the Book Sense.

When you plug one into the Book Sense using the short cable, the Book Sense will create the same set of folders on it that it creates on the SD cards. To access that drive, you simply press and hold the zero key for 2 seconds while the flash drive is plugged into the Book Sense.
The Book Sense will tell you that it has switched to a "USB memory stick."

Does this help?

Rod

This may be the question asked by the most simpletonion person on
any email list in the Universe!
There's a USB dongle cable that comes with the Book Sense that
connects to a "flash drive"? What is a flash drive?
Peter.
