Thanks for this. I at first tried getting this information from a
paused state in an NLS book and it doesn't work in that mode. But
you're right -- during playback hitting the zero key and then the up
arrow will give remaining time. However when I pressed the
play/pause button I couldn't resume playing. Finally discovered that
I then needed to hit the pound key to finish the information
section. Rather inelegant, but it kinda works.

elapsed, and total time, you'll have to do the math to get the
remaining time from that.
