hello all. This email answers many of the questions or issues reported of late so it may be rather long. I've done this to avoid sending many individual emails.

These are in no particular order.

Subject: synthesizer speed. Changing the speed of the prompts is going to remain separate from the reading speed. This is because some users may want to have the prompts at one speed while the reading voice at another speed. So this is not a bug. One thing we are working on is to make the BookSense remember the reading speed which is adjusted with the 4 and 6 keys.

Subject: Playlist problems. Currently the playlist feature of the BookSense is broken in the 1.1 firmware. This used to work properly in the initial version 1.0 release.

Subject: pronunciation issues. All pronunciation issues reported since this summer have been noted and marked down to have fixed in a future firmware upgrade. This unfortunately includes some words ending with the letters E and R, as in, October.

Subject: Firmware. The current firmware version is 1.1 and although it says beta, it's the version which has been available since August 6. We ended up replacing the original release of this firmware, but didn't update the version number because it was only a few days later. However, if you downloaded the firmware in the first few days, you may see some problems most found with text files and the document reader. If you are experiencing problems, please download the 1.1 firmware which is available from our site and you will have the real 1.1 version. We are working hard to bring the next release as soon as possible, but we've had some set backs with the next release and we would rather release a stable firmware than an unstable one. So if this means waiting a little longer, that is the the reason.

Subject: RMAs and returns. If you need an RMA or you are having problems with your BookSense, or any other GW hardware product, please contact technical support via phone. Then after speaking to a technical support person, you will be directed to our orders department for an RMA. If you simply want to return your BookSense because you are unhappy with it, there is a ten percent restocking fee.

Subject: cases for the BookSense. We are working on making a case available so people have a choice as to which case to purchase. Based on a lot of feedback in general about cases, the BookSense case we make available will hold the BookSense right-side-up, just like the Executive Products style case.

Subject: Battery issues. If the BookSense is shutting off while the battery still shows more than a level of 1, it's possible that the BookSense and battery are not communicating properly what the actual charge status is. Please fully recharge the battery and see if this fixes the issue.

Subject: Book names remaining in the list after deleting a book. If your book folder contains any hidden files and you delete the book from the BookSense, it will still show up because the BookSense does not delete hidden files. if the folder which contains your book does not contain any hidden files, then when you delete it from the BookSense, it will not show up any more.

Subject: Volume loudness. We have it marked down to increase the volume for audio books as well as NLS playback without affecting the playback volume of other things like the music. We are aware of the volume issues between volume 5 and 6 and have this marked down to fix. The bell tone which plays when you try to move down from volume 1 is by design to alert you that you are making an error.

Many thanks.
