The problem I had with one book is that it did not power itself off, but it would keep repeating the same tiny snippet of speech over and over again at about one second intervals. When it did this, I could not get it to do anything else; none of the buttons would respond. I had to do a battery removal reset to get it to work again.

I have had it power off with NLS and BookShare XML and DAISY format; or, I will ask it to move to a certain place and hangs up trying to do what I ask. Hopefully, the up-coming firmware update will fix because when it is really working, it is one nice system.

Have you ever had your booksense power itself off while reading nls books? I have. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Curtis Delzer" <[email protected]>

While reading an NLS book, I've had lockups, where reset was also necessary. Also, while reading, and I wish to stop, holding down the power button, (play, pause), and the unit turns off while reading, it continues. I know it is still reading because when I press the time and date button I hear it reading while it is announcing the time and date. That, wastes battery? :) Not all the time, but sometimes. when I press that play / pause key and holding it down, the power off signal while still reading occurs. I know, "don't hold down the power button while reading," but it shouldn't do that. :) Another "bug" is the unit still, not often but more than it should, begins to say such things as "end of side one," (and others), and then skips over syllables of the next word, garbling it. When I press "pause," of course it screams about 4 times louder than it should, "pause." Volume jockey I must play to keep my hearing intact. :) There are occasions when, certain NLS materials will not go beyond areas in the book which the Book Sense says exist. Check out, please, DB-Douglas, Carole Nelson-Cat in a Neon Nightmare- A Midnight Louie Mystery-DB58460. NMy books sense, in the "flash disc" area, when I attempt to go beyond "from the book jacket" area the unit skips back to "nls annotation," or even when I get beyond the areas of the descriptions and chapter 1, when chapter 2 is suppose to start, it goes back to the annotation parts of the book, generally landing on "nls annotation."

Just like a cell phone lockup.

I had a strange problem last night, was reading an nls book last night and the booksense just stopped, nothing would work, no clock, nothing!! It wouldn't turn off or back on. I had to do a reset to get it back. Battery was at 5, so sure that wasn't the problem.

Well said! The BookSense works well enough as it is. Why compound
problems by releasing the new firmware too soon?

 Turn right, then go straight!

        Jeremiah 29:11-14 (Amplified Bible)

11For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you
 hope in your final outcome.

12Then you will call upon Me, and you will come and pray to Me, and I
 will hear and heed you.

13Then you will seek Me, inquire for, and require Me [as a vital
necessity] and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.(A)

14I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will release you from captivity and gather you from all the nations and all the places to which I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place
from which I caused you to be carried away captive.
