I hope that doesn't happen in my life-time! I am all for those of you who
are comfortable, but I still love the feel of the keys under my flying
fingers!

Smiles!

There was a day when there was no such thing as a keyboard. Now, many
take the keyboard for greanted and here we are seeing touch screens
everywhere. Is it not always the game of catchup, making current technology

accessible? Can you make use of a touch screen when using debit cards?

So to say that even when using speech to use a phone that has a touch
screen is not accessible is like, uhm, well, it makes no sense. What if the

day comes when the keyboard (computer, cell phone, atm/debit machine) should

suffer the fate of dinosaurs?

Yes, I have jaws on my computer, but my computer has real keys on its
keyboard. I've been typing since I was in the third grade, and in a pinch, I

can type using a computer that doesn't have a screen reader. That is way
different than a touch screen, at least in my opinion.

You said "The touch screen just doesn't make sense to me, and even with
speech, I don't consider it to be accessible."

Do you have a screen reader on your computer? If you do, then the above
comment is at oods with it.

I completely agree with you about touch screens. I've seen a friend's
iphone, and although he swears by the thing, I just didn't like it at all.
The touch screen just doesn't make sense to me, and even with speech, I
don't consider it to be accessible. Also, I don't like the speech used by the
apple products. If I could tolerate that speech, I'd still be using the
victor reader stream I used to have. I don't have a dedicated note taking
device because I can't afford anything like that, but my desktop computer
meets all my needs quite nicely, and I'm very happy with my htcs743 cell
phone. It can serve as a notetaker in an emergency. I love my booksense,
though, and hope that I'll be able to enjoy using it for many years to come.

Many people get their notetakers through Rehab. Others get loans or grants.
The Ipods might be fine for some who can't afford notetakers, but Ipods
don't meet my needs and I don't think I would like touch screens, even if
they are "accessible." Besides, Ipods have too many features I wouldn't even
use! I don't know if a person has to have AT&T to use the Ipod, although I
know it's true for the Ipad and Iphone. Well, I'm happy with Verizon
Wireless and I won't switch to AT&T for any reason! I'll use my BSP as long
as I can.
