I've had two laptops with touch pads. The first one, a Compaq, had a little bar below the touch pad that toggled it on and off. My current Lenovo does not, and I haven't found out how to turn it off yet. At the moment this is not an issue, since I use it with an external keyboard and I keep the comptuer closed while in use.
