Hello, Bill.

Thank you very much for your clear instructions. Shortly before I read your message, I discovered what you confirmed: that I had to select a file with the left mouse button in order to view the various buttons for disinfecting a file or moving it to the virus vault. The shell extension option was one I hadn't discovered. I appreciate being told about it.

Hello Craig, you might want to try the following.
If you're scanning the drive by using the context menu (right clicking on the drive letter), you can change the following setting to do the action automatically. #1: Open the AVG interface. #2: go to the tools menu. #3: Go to Advanced settings and arrow down to scans. #4: Press the right arrow key to open the tree view and find the shell extension setting. #5: If the check box for "Heal/remove infected files" is not checked, make sure that box is checked and then Press OK. Alternatively, when the warning is presented, you can try to left click on the file name after finding it with the mouse key. That should only bring the pointer to that file and from there you should be able to move through that window with the tab key to locate the corresponding button.
Let me know how you make out.

    Hello, everyone.

My second run at AVG 8.0 is proving more fruitful than my first one. The static boxes I reported a few days ago didn't prevent me from locating buttons with the "Tab" key when I went through the First Run Wizard. However, when AVG found malware on a flash drive, I suddenly hit a snag: I could not find the buttons to move unhealed items to the Virus vault. The button was clearly visible to sighted assistance, but although I use the mouse keys in a variety of ways and then tried the "Tab" key, I could never find the button. GW Micro gave me the good suggestion of defining a user window around the button and invoking it with a hotkey, but I don't know if the button is always at the exact same part of the screen regardless of the number of malware items found. Has anyone had this problem? If so, how did you get around it, please?

Thanks very much for all help.

Craig
