Bernie:
Actually, I think your computer and mine are configured differently. I have
a desktop so my mouse is a physical mouse off to the side, but I decided to
play a little and if I sort of fiddle around with it, it kind of works, but
that's only on losing focus on e-mail and I'm sure AOL software is like
nothing
else used by anyone else, but it works for me. I'll try it more on websites
and such and let you know. I haven't had occasion to use the mouse since I've
been testing the beta, but I do use the mouse and the mouse keys more than
average so I should find someplace to play with that aspect. Oh, I know what I
can do. A lot of blind people don't like AOL because there's scads of stuff
on the welcome screen but that's exactly why I like it. I don't have to google
things like stocks or weather or any oof that because it's right there. But
you have to know how to get to it. Anyway, the mouse is helpful in that so
I'll play with that. And thanks for the idea. I'll let you know how it works.

Gail

Hi Gail,
Yes, I am using a laptop and when I want to get focus bakc, it is easy to
tap the
left mouse button located just below the mouse pad. By the way, not sure
why, but
I never have problems with the mousepad as have been described on this list.
 I would
be interested in whether my technique works for you.

Please be specific about that. Are you using the physical mouse and if so
which button?
I've noticed it some before too but it seems to happen more now. Of course
that could
just be because I've had a lot of problems with the beta, but now most of
those are
gone.
Gail
Hi Gail,
>From my perspective, I think there has been a focusing problem with WE even
before
the betas. I have not loaded the beta yet because I am not wanting an
unstable configuration.
But, still using WE 6.1 on an XP systewm, I have often noticed that WE has a
 focus
problem. When that happens, it appears, and I think many users believe that
WE is
not responsive, but I can always get focus back simply by pressing the mouse
button.

That's all well and good, but my beta 2 is working much better since I took
the old
Eloquence off. It still has problems focusing, but the new Eloquence no
longer stutters
like it did and it's not crashing nearly as much as it did.
Gail
There is no conflict between the original elloquents and the new one
because the new one is not a sapi foice.
