Hi. One thing which i am wondering is if you're using any high contrast color schemes. I know you said all the defaults for the views are being used, but something little things which seem insignificant need to be asked. <smile>. Also, what is your color resolution, ie: 16-bit or 32-bit. Lastly. If all this fails, you can certainly label them as you described and then send us the Outlook graphic file and we can merge them into our factory defaults so anyone else with a similar color scheme and resolution configuration can benefit from your labeling work.

Many thanks.

Thanks to all who made suggestions. Remember, I'm using Windows XP and
Window-Eyes 6.1. So, to the extent there are issues in WE7.0, they likely
existed in 6.1 already.
Here is what I did:
1. I installed the factory Outlook sets and graphic dictionary.
That didn't help. Read status and the presence/absence of attachments and the "replied" and
"forwarded" status flags ("Flags") still were not read.
2. I checked to make sure XP was set to "Classic" and to about every
"standard" default setting I could. That didn't help either.
3. I told Window-Eyes to label graphics automatically. That too didn't help.
4. I got my secretary to come in, and using the WE mouse movement keys, I manually labeled the "forwarded",
"attachment", "replied", and "unread" status Flags. That sort of helped.
If I read the message list using the mouse, I pretty consistently heard the
Status Flags.
I saved the graphic dictionary and set file, closed Outlook, and opened it
again.
I now sort of consistently hear the Status Flags, but the jury is still out on the "unread" Status
Flag. The "forwarded" and "attachment" Flags seem to work perfectly.
There may be something unique in our set-up of which neither WE nor I is aware.
I'm a lawyer and our army of security experts like to mess with applications
behind the machines to maintain the privacy, confidentiality, and security of
our system.
From the responses I got on the list, it seems that the challenges with status
Flags wasn't uniquely my problem.
Thanks to all who made suggestions.
This is a fantastic list.

Subject: more on reading read/unread status in outlook 2k7 message lists.

Ok as mike said I set the color to vista basic. Ok now graphic for expanded most of the tool bar is read great.
I in fact turned off the tool bar because I simply don't need it I only
turned it on to test to see if it would be read. When moveing the mouse over it. I sort all of my mail buy subject. So here the expanded closed tags for all groups. This is a ok. Still having the sluggish issue when back spacing where outlook and
window-eyes just don't seem to communicate that something is changing.
How-ever in the message list the only time I hear read unread is in the junk
mail folder. All other folders do not report the status. Any idea why this
might be so?
