Hello,

Considering the fact you posted your message about not being willing to
switch to the dectalk before you stated you had switched to it I did follow
the thread in it's progressions +how-ever I do think you for your kind
admonition for me to do so. It was kind of you to respond in this way to
someone who is attempting to offer you help. I will note it down to send it
to a training group to use in how to express appreciation to those who are
trying to offer assistance. I am sure they will find the tip quite
invaluable.

Now are you sure you are in fact having a window-eyes problem? Is it
possible that there is +a program somewhere that is not responding and there
for bringing down the window-eyes speech.

When a speech loss happens try starting narrator and check your task manager
to see if there is something there that is not responding.

This might not be + a window-eyes problem at all.

Follow the thread. I used W-E Dectalk and lost speech. I'm using the New
Eloquence and am experiencing sluggishness and some garbled speech.

Ok if you are not willing to switch to dectalk how then do you expect to
narrow down
the problem? When using a beta you need to be willing to perform tests. I
am using
the new eloquence here just to see if I can get this loss of speech with
beta 3 and
so far no luck. As you are using the old eloquence switch to the new one
and see
if this helps.
To do this do the following.
1. Open the window-eyes control panel.
2. Go to file and then go to select synthesizers.
3. Select dectalk access32 window-eyes.
4. Tab to apply, and press the space bar.
5. Tab back to the list of devices select eloquence.
6. Tab to ok and press the space bar.
Hope that helps.

I'm not willing to change to Dectalk because I can't understand it very well
and
that frustrates me as much as loss of speech does.

        Hi Gail,
Have you tried to switch to the WE decktalk?
I would be interested to see if the loss of speach stops or happens less
with a different
talker.
I have not had the loss of speach in we 7 beta 3.
I did have the problem in beta 2 and every so often in beta 3 I get a pause
... wait
on the computer but, speach has eventually returned.
Please try to change talkers and let us know what happens.
Thanks
Sam

I'm having more loss of speech problems with beta 3 than I did with beta 2
and again
no systematic pattern of events.
Windows XP. Beta 3 is responding faster when it works but this loss of
speech isn't
good and I am using the old Eloquence and no scripts.
