have you tried the program webferret?
its free from download.com the latest version is 6x it is only for 32bit
windows though. 2000,xp and vista.
this program uses 12 search engiens at the same time.
you can choose which engines to use from a list.
i had to manualy configure it to use firefox with vista. it shows the links in
a line bar type dialog box.
and uses a search edit box.when a link peeks your interest you just press enter
on it and it will automatically minimize, open i e or firefox go directly to
the web page. that is if it exists.
you press alt tab to bring up the webferret dialog and you will be where you
left off.
as far as w e all you have to do is make some changes in webferret. change the
view to list or descriptions in the view menu. and turn off show results in
browser and you are set to go.
you tab between the search edit box and the list of links it finds.
