Hi Dave, If this is the unit I am thinking of, it doesn't need a power cord-it runs off of a usb cable connected to your computer. My husband has a power braille 80, and that's how his is. Both WE 6.1 and 7.0 probably have the drivers, but you can go to the Freedom Scientific web site and download it from there, too, plus the manual. I have borrowed his unit and used it with my computer running WE 6.1 and it worked fine, although some of it's functionality isn't there with WE as it is with the Freedom scientific screen reader, or at least, it wasn't with WE 6.1. I haven't tried it with this version of WE yet to know for sure how well it works. I bought a Braille sense plus back in July and haven't looked back!(grins) hth, Caitlyn -----Original Message----- From: David [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Saturday, October 11, 2008 2:16 PM To: WE English mailing list Subject: PowerBraille 80 - Info needed
Hi listers, I have been offered to buy a secondhand PowerBraille display, for an affordable price. All that the seller of this unit has, is the power cord. I have a few questions, that I hoped someone in here could help me out with: The model is: Blazie Engineering PowerBraille 80 cell 2D PB80T - What kind of cable should I use between the Braille display, and my computer? Is this an ordinary cable(picked up from any store), or has it been specially designed for this unit. - Do I need any driver, to have the display working under WinXP pro sp3, with WE6.1 or 7.0? If so, can the driver be downloaded from anywhere on the web? - Is the manual for this unit available - iin an electronic format - somewhere on the net? Thanks for all help, that will make me able to make an informed decision as to whether or not to go for this unit. If you reply to this message it will be delivered to the original sender only.
