Hi. Sorry to be a contraqrian, but I owned a PowerBraille 80 for several years. It does not have a USB connection of any kind, if your unit is anything like what I had. And you do need a power cable not only to charge it, but to operate it in any fashion; because the PB80, which used to be supported by Freedom Scientific, was not meant to work with a battery.
