they will sort it all out, and don't forget I use comodo here also so . . . agree in toto about all of it's prohibitive qualities and making sure that you know what you want to do and all that. :) It can get cranky, for sure, so thought I'd look at this ESET suite of software and it is quite accessible, and did send a beta report so we'll see.

Now, sleepy here in North Dakota where it's about 18 degrees so off to the hibernate cave for a few hours. :)

I hope the people at Eset can sort all this stuff out, I think you said that the software is only beta at this stage?

One software package which seems to be quite impressive is f-secure found at <http://www.fsecure.com>http://www.fsecure.com as it seems to be very accessible and quite cheap for about $75.00 to cover 3 computers.

I'm a user of Esets NOD32 Anti Virus and I wouldn't be without it, only my 2 cents worth of course but boy! that thing is so damn sensitive and good when it comes to finding viruses on a system so it would be a crying shame if this product becomes unusable or inaccessible. For the firewall? Well, I don't think too much is going to come too close to Comodo Personal Firewall, particularly when this software doesn't cost a damn old dime. Just to give you an example of how protective and aggressive the software is, I uninstalled Window-Eyes on a machine the other day, that's Window-Eyes V7.0. I put Window-Eyes V6.1 on the machine as I wanted to do some comparisons with something or should I say I tried to put WE6.0 onto the machine but no, Comodo wouldn't have a bar of that at all because I was trying to install stuff that the software had both never seen before and I was trying (in Comodo's eyes) to penetrate its defences, by default the software won't let you run any executables or similar software from CD-ROMS, floppy drives, memory sticks and so forth, it pops up a message asking you to "allow this request, block, treat as" and so forth and of course I had no way of accessing this, thank goodness for Rollback <smile>. Got the job done in the end though and was able to do what I wanted to do.

Hi all. I've spent a good part of the day playing with the new ESET security suite, combination fire wall and anti virus. It is configurable with Window-Eyes, but I had the devil of a time getting scripts to run at all, or update e.g. the weather or not script would not go out and get weather, the install packages would not . . . etc. Even if I turned off the fire wall, or virus protection, no luck at all. Also, it is necessary to put programs which access the web in the "browser" area of the program, so I did both Eudora and Window-Eyes, and Eudora began working properly, but not Window-Eyes and scripts. In fact, when I attempted to either turn off or on scripts running using ESET 4.0 beta, WE froze, and had to be unloaded using control-alt-f4, with the kill_wineyes utility I have installed. NVDA came to the rescue then, and oh yeah, one more thing, during the installation of ESET 4.0 beta, somehow Window-Eyes was run again, or loaded again, and said, "window-eyes is already running." The configuration is pretty easy, like nod32 3.0 using f5, and you can turn off the GUI interface from within the interface portion of the program. The fire wall is nice, check boxes for "save rule as permanent or one instance," and allow, block, buttons, all speak fine. The program runs better with Window-Eyes than jfw 10, where jfw10 kept losing focus and WE did not. nanner nanner. :)
