There is no problem getting 32 bit versions of vista and windows 7 will also
be offered in 32 bit so I think we will be able to use our computers for a
while. This is not saying that 64 bit is not important because it is it is to
say that we are not going to die without it.

  Hi Sam,

Yes, the other 3 big issues I think will be up to GW Micro to solve. If I
had to put a priority list in order, I think 64-bit support would be at the top
of the list for me, simply because most of the off-the-shelf computers at a
store such as best buy are running 64-bit OSes. When a screen reader won't run
on the majority of new systems that are out there now, I think that is a pretty
serious downfall. I realize that GW Micro probably disagrees with what I think
should be addressed first, but I think 64-bit will be enough to keep them busy
for a while never mind the other 2 issues. If they can find a way to minimize
the loss of speech I would be happy with that. I'm also not in a situation
where I am required to use 64-bit versions of Windows, so perhaps I don't have
the sense of urgency that other people do. I have a copy of Windows Vista
Ultimate 32-bit, and worst case scenario I just have to reinstall my own copy
of windows after I buy a new computer. But, I realize that not everyone is in
that same fortunate situation. I have heard that there are great advantages to
64-bit versions of Windows, mainly that it is quite a bit more stable. So this
is probably my number 1 request.

  Cory

I understand your point of view.

II agree taht the person who is working on java with a script is great news.

But, what about the 4 issues we mentioned ... can you comment on them?

  1. Better way to deal with the loss of speech.

  2. You already answered the java issue.

  3. Fix browse mode.

  4. support for 64bit os.

  Sam

Hi, Sam. With all due respect, many comments were made regarding requests
and suggestions for scripts. Was I one of the people who suggested scripts?
Nope, but what a powerful tool indeed.

As Aaron said, stay uned, smile. Some enterprising author is working on a
script for java support. I do agree with Cory and hope that a script can be
incorporated into future versions of Window-eyes.

I responded privately to one of the members of this list for what I
considered to be an unnecessary comment for everybody to read on such a list as
this.
