Here is the solution to the problem of changing keyboard settings for one
application but not another I posted about earlier. A big thanks to net bat for
this.

It does indeed work, although it seems rather counterintuitive. I don't quite
follow why, when a particular set file is loaded, and I go to the keyboard
settings and turn it to Voice Off, it just doesn't perform the operation for
that specific application, and not others, right then. It seems unnecessarily
complicated and confusing to have to go into the Global menu and change
something before the changes apply only to one application by altering the
settings when the particular set file for that application is loaded.

It is reasonable to suppose that if I hit control backslash and WE announces
the specific set files it is using, that all these menu choices should apply
only to that specific application by default and not all of them. If the
settings are going to apply globally, then maybe Window Eyes should say Active
Global point 000 associated global point 000, or something like that.

load winamp and be sure the winamp set file is loaded. go to the global menu
and change it to verbocity only. save the set file. now you will have to adjust
the voices for screen, keyboard, and mouse manually. then save the set file. the
changes will aply only to the winamp set file.
the same for verbocity. if you want to make changes you would have to turn off
the verbocity in the global menu then any changes you make will only apply to
the running set file not to all of them.

Subject: Changing Keyboard Settings for One Application But Not Another

  Hello Folks,

In WE 7.01, when in Winamp, I hit control backslash to go to the Window Eyes
control panel. It said active Winamp point 000 associated none. I set
keyboard to voice off because if I don't, I hear the character of the key I'm
pressing, as well as what the command is for Winamp. For example, when I hit
the key to increase the level of the equalizer, it says grave accent, then the
level. So when I turn off the keyboard voice, I just hear the level and nothing
else, which I like better. Then, I saved the set file for Winamp.

Well, then I opened up Internet Explorer and tried to enter a url, and heard
nothing. So I go over to the WE control panel and it says active Ie point 000
associated IE point 000. Checking the keyboard settings, I see that it is set
to voice off. I never changed the keyboard settings in IE, and certainly don't
want to turn the keyboard voice off. I only want to turn the keyboard voice off
in Winamp, not in any other application.

I just checked this for Windows Mail, which uses the OE point 0001 associated
OE point 0001 set files, and if I turn the keyboard voice off for Winamp, it
turns it off in that application also. This is definitely something I don't
want, since I can't hear what I'm typing in my email program.

Perhaps I am totally clueless, but I thought that the purpose of set files
was to customize the way Window Eyes operates for various applications. But as
far as my keyboard settings go, it seems that a change is global, not
particular to one set file.

Could someone clue me in as to how I can make particular keyboard settings
for one application that do not carry over to others? Is my installation of WE
somehow messed up?

Thanks for any advice from this great list.

  Evan
