I hate to muddy the water, but it may not be windows live. I see a lot of software crash a lot more often when running with window eyes under vista.
If I switch to jaws under vista, the random crashes stop happening. (I don't just switch, I kill the processes of anything associated with window eyes). These crashes are completely random, and as often as not may happen to a windows service. The error message however is always that "program or service XXX has stopped working ...". It's almost never window eyes itself, so it takes someone with an alternate screen reader and lots of time to come to this conclusion. I think there's some issue with window eyes and Vista.
