I would recomende the following settings for Vipre -- on the active protection tab, uncheck the box which talks about low risk programs, also uncheck the box which says something about check files while opening or copying. Make sure medium is check is checked also. Once this is done, run outlook again and see if you are getting any Vipre windows in the backround -- if so press the spacebar on the allow button.
Hope this helps.
