Quicktime is Apple's own midia player, and it handles many audio and video formats, including Apple's own proprietory ones.
It is very small and takes up less screen space than most other media players - and no doubt notions of visual Alan R. Downing wrote:aesthetics has it that that's a good thing. I have no quaral there; simply put it can look like what the hell it wants to look like, just as long as there's accompanying keyboard support for moving through a stream as you can with Winamp or Real Player, and I thik Windows Media Player too. There could also be some concern with those who use Quicktime to hide the URL of the streaming audio or video for copyright reasons. There are smarter ways of protecting site content though than this. We all know too, thanks to Aaron's blog entry, that the URL can be found. In short then, there's nothing very special about Apple Quicktime in its native Apple incarnation or the Windows version, its just another media player, but a damned bluddy inaccessable one! Pressure should be put on Apple to change this. They've done it with ITunes, and gone a long way now in providing a usable, if not perfect, access solution in Voice Over on the Mac. So why isn't Quicktime accessible too? Ray. Thats nice, but I don't know what the hell quicktime is, or does. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ray" <[email protected]> To: "Alan R.
