Hello Pat: In Windows XP you can call up the system tray using the Window-Eyes hot key insert+S. Or if you are feeling generic, Windows will put your focus on the system tray by pressing Windows key+B.
If you are not seeing all of the icons you expect to find there, then you probably have your inactive icons set so they do not appear. To change this setting, press Windows key+M to minimize your open applications and to put the focus on your desktop. Now press the tab key until you land on the Start Menu button. From here press the context menu key. Press the up arrow key until you land on properties, then press the enter key. Now you want to get to the Task Bar property sheet. You can get there quickly by pressing control+shift+Tab. Now press the tab key until you get to the Hide Inactive Icons check box. If this is checked, then press the spacebar to remove the check mark. Now press alt+A to apply the settings. Now press shift+Tab until you get to the OK button. From here, press the spacebar or enter key to close the properties dialogue. Just as an added note, I also like to remove the check mark from the Group Similar Task Bar buttons.
