Yes, but so far all or most of the utilities out there turn the screen
back on as soon as you press another key. The idea is to turn the
monitor off and keep it off while you brows the web, check email etc.
and you can't turn off themonitor on the Eee PC unless you hook up to an
external first. Remember those utilities weren't made with the blind in
mind. The authors assumed that a sighted person will be using them and
that they need an easy way to turn the monitor back on.

Hey all, I have a feature suggestion I would like to see added to
Window-eyes sometime in the near future. I am suggesting a feature to
power down a monitor, including any backlight. Many blind people use
laptops and don't need the monitor active because they can't see it
and it just uses up power anyway. I turned off my monitor by taping
down a pin that gets pressed down when my laptop lid closes.
Unfortunately most laptops these days are coming without the old pin
technology. What do you guys think of adding a hotkey to Window-eyes
to automatically do this?
