Believe me, I have been looking and so far have come up empty handed.
The only utility I found that showed promise turned the monitor off, but
it came back on again as soon as a key or mouse movement was detected.
If you have found something that actually turns off the lcd display and
keeps it off until toggled back on again, I would love to know about it.

Hey all, I have a feature suggestion I would like to see added to
Window-eyes sometime in the near future. I am suggesting a feature to
power down a monitor, including any backlight. Many blind people use
laptops and don't need the monitor active because they can't see it
and it just uses up power anyway. I turned off my monitor by taping
down a pin that gets pressed down when my laptop lid closes.
Unfortunately most laptops these days are coming without the old pin
technology. What do you guys think of adding a hotkey to Window-eyes
to automatically do this?
