maybe he doesn't understand the manual. As you say, you don't know
him, so it would only be fair to take that possibility into consideration.

We don't know you and we have no way of knowing if you read the manual or
not. so when something is covered there as I said it is natural to point you
at it or even provide the text to better assist you.
