If you have trouble, one thing to try is to highlight the filename, hit alt-enter for properties, and unlock it if that option appears. It will warn you before it allows you to do so.

When I first opened the book, I could not read the help panes. In my case, this was the cause.

for instance, the window eyes help file is a .chm file

some people are having troubles though; I remember seeing various
reasons why someone might not be able to read a .chm file, so I'll need
to go track down the answer for that, and I'll post it here (unless
someone else knows?)

to read it, you should just be able to open it in windows explorer by
pressing enter on it.

Dear Chip,

I'm getting this right now.

What do I need to read this file. If this is an E-book, don't I need a special piece of software to open it?

Thanks much.

Pat Ferguson

Hi Ari,

I've uploaded a Word 2007 e-book to a send space file;
you've only got a
couple of days to download it.

it's a great book because unlike most mainstream books, it often
includes keyboard shortcuts.

it's at:

Subject: Word 2007 tutorial?

Hi all,
I know there's a section in the WE tutorial on how to use
Word 2007,
however, as a student, I'd like to know if there's anywhere
from where I can
get a tutorial or book teaching me how to use WE to do
advanced stuff in
Word 2007 like using the tools to create a table of contents,
footnotes, and
bibliographies for my assignments, or how to create really
presentable
documents. Something like a course for Microsoft Word 2007,
but showing us
how to do it using a screen reader.
Thanks very much
Ari
