Just a bit of an idea! If you want to know, if there is an error message, how about installing a sedcond screenreader, i.e NVDA. When WE looses out on speech, you quickly can call up NVDA with a hotkey, and have the screen checked for error messages etc. Or, you might even be able to run a mobil version of WE off an USB drive. I am using these methods myself, to track down certain tasks and problems, arising on my sytem. If you are unable to get a secondary screenreader up and running, usually, that means you have a bit of a system trouble. Does the secondary screenreader come up, though, you are more likely to have a problem with WE. Also, I have seen certain times, when a system 'all out of its own mind', turns down the volume. A volume set to 0, means no speech. Recently had that happening to me on my laptop, over and over again. Running a service, including checkup for virus/spyware, and a defragmentation of the hard drive, did solve the trouble.

OK, I am not a Winamp user - dont like the software - so I can't tell if any of this will be helpful in your situation. Just thought to drop a note, in case it will help anyone out, in cases, where speech is lost frequently.

Subject: we script 1.3 issues

Hi all. I installed version 1.3 of the Winamp script about two weeks ago,
and I've had some serious problems since. I reported the main issue I've
seen to the developer, but so far he can't duplicate it. I thought I'd run
it by the list; see if any of you have seen this behavior as well.

I've got Winamp 5.5.52 set to have a system tray icon, so I can minimize it
and get it out of the tab order. However, when I press alt, arrow down to
minimize, and hit enter, I instantly lose speech. I do have Wesounds
installed, but neither it nor Windows itself makes an error sound, and
obviously I can't tell if there's an error messagebox without speech. The
only thing I can do when this happens is to reboot the machine (fortunately
I can get to shutdown/restart without speech). I've removed the Winamp
script, and when I minimize Winamp with the steps above, no dump of speech.
Reinstall the script and minimize, poof bye bye speech. I've got this issue
on both my XP Pro and Vista HP machines, both running Winamp 5.5.52, WE 7.01
with MSTTS 4.0, and the same exact scripts running.

Unfortunately, I forgot to save the .wepm file for the last version I had
before I upgraded to 1.3, so now I'm stuck with a script that keeps crashing
me. If anybody has the .wepm file for the last version of the script, please
send it to me off-list.
