Dave Publisher vs. Word comes down I think essentially to how pretty you want
publications to be and the ease with which such prettiness can be achieved.

Why this person uses Word for menus instead of Publisher I'm not sure because
it would be pretty well as easy to produce a menu in Publisher as it would be
with Word. That said, if you want a lot of pictures and graphics, say of
vegitables or fruit or foaming cups of coffeee adorning your menu, then I'd
much prefer to do that In Publisher than in Word; not because it can't be
done in Word, simply that in Publisher frames for holding pictures and
graphics are simply dragged into place from a pallet on the left of the
screen. To do the same in Word is one hell of a pularver unless you are very
skilled at using Word.

Similarly long newsletters with mirrored banner headings and page numbers say
enclosed in little boxes or circles is much easier in Publisher than it would
be in Word. That's not even touching the many layering effects with colour
and gradients you can do with Publisher or any layout program.

A simple menu would of course be very easy to do in Word and I could manage
that if all that's important is the text. For blind people that's exactly
what's of importance. So, as long as the menu text is composed in a frame
that can easily be extracted from the rest of the layout, then pasting that
into Word or any editor such as Wordpad or Jarte, should be easy-peasy.

Hope that lengthy explanation is of some help, but as someone who sometimes
has to deal with fancy docs and make them available to those using Word I know
how frustrating it can be if those using Publisher or other such programs are
ignorant of such issues.

Hi list,
I realize that Publisher doesn't work with Window-Eyes, and Word does!
I was talking with the service Coordinator here at Sage Tower, well, I was
talking with her this morning about having the newsletter put on the computer.
She knows that publisher doesn't work with my screen reader.
I asked her if she could put the newsletter on the computer using Word, and I
got the idea that she doesn't like to use word for that purpose. She likes to
use Publisher when writing the newsletter. She uses Word or something like it
when she sends the menu.
My question is this for the list, How does Publisher differ from Word? There
must be more to the newsletter than Word can handle, or she doesn't like it or
something like that.
The menu doesn't take up that much room. Bonnie, the Service coordinator,
uses both programs instead of just one. That to me seems like a lot of work.
Thank you for your response.
Dave
