I think you are missing the point. Granted, the way this list is set up
is the classic way to do it and was the norm for many years.
Now it isn't. As folks don't necessarily pay attention to how things are
set up, they will use what seems natural to them -- these days being that
a reply goes to everyone.

I cannot tell you how many times I have seen a question and wish to know
the answer. BuI never see it due to the reply mechanism.

I have also been on the other side and seen a question and wonder if
someone has responded. If I am busy, I may forego answering thinking my
may be the 20th answer received.
On the other hand, if I see no replies, I might take the time to answer if
the list were conventionally set.

And what about the wrong and misleading answer. If those are publicly
posted, someone can step in and correct the error or misinformation.

There is no right or wrong answer to this issue, just perspectives. Mine
is that I prefer publicly posted replies as everyone benefits and errrors
can be spotted.
Or different answers can compete on certain things.

Obey the Lord even when it seems illogical. When He calls us, He will make a
way.
Where He leads us, He will go before us. That's why we walk by faith.
