Hi! I don't know what happened; I guess I hit some kind of a key combination
that did this, but I don't know what it is, and how to undo it. I have window
eyes on my tower computer and on my laptop. The problem started on my laptop.
Sometimes, I couldn't get the cursor to read stuff, then all of a sudden, it
really screwed up in that first of all, when I am on the desktop, it doesn't
say the names of the different things when I arrow to them, but it says the
size of the file or program, and what kind of file, program or utility it is.
If I try to get into something, it won't read much of anything regularly with
the arrows, and some of the other keys are stubborn about working. I get a
message that starts with some stereo windows sounds that go back and forth from
channel to channel, and then it says there is some kind of a scripting error,
and asks me do I want to ignore it, edit it or close, I think. I called, and
was told that I turned off all kinds of things in the menus, which I didn't do.
But I hadn't heard that message about a scripting error, yet. I know nothing
about scripting or using scripts. The person told me to call back with
somebody sighted or do an emergency uninstall, and reinstall the disk. I am at
this part. I asked how to do an emergency uninstall, and was told that when I
put in the disk, it would tell me. I can't get it that far, and I can't do a
regular uninstall. I tried installing it over top, like overwriting it, but it
just dings at me when I try to do any of those things, and won't do anything.
What can I do? Do I have to reformat this stupid computer? It's the laptop
with vista. Whatever this problem is, it started out in this laptop, then it
happened in the tower, also. All I did was shut down in the propper way, when
I was using the tower, which has XP, and when I turned it on about three
hours later, it was doing the same thing. Now, the tower computer, suddenly
righted itself, and a day or so later, so did this laptop. But several days
later, I was turning it on, and it messed up again. I know I made a mistake
when I was bringing window eyes up or something, and I hit some keys by
accident, but I don't know what I did. I was afraid, when I had both computers
working, that it would happen again, since I don't know what I did to make it
happen in the first place. The only way I am using this is with an old copy of
jaws. I hope somebody can help me somehow! Pam.
